This unique ‘Hospital on Wheels’ is customized to provide primary pediatric care, enable community outreach, support public health campaigns focused on immunization because of the ILR linked vaccine storage provisions and infrastructure for first response to pediatric emergencies and procedures.
The first mobile health unit for children ‘Hospital on Wheels’ was made possible as part of the Rotary Global Grant titled ‘Building an innovative model for Child Health in Southern India’.
Inaugurating this unique ‘Hospital on Wheels’ the Rotary District 3201- Governor Rotarian. Prakash Chandran, said that this joint initiative, the first Rotary Global Grant (1639213) with focus on Child health will serve 15,000 children annually. The contribution of Rs.19 lakh for this important project came jointly from Rotary Club of Coimbatore Heritage, Rotary Club of Neckertal, Rotary Club of Wurzburg-Residenz
Launching the community outreach services of ‘Hospital on Wheels’ in Tamil Nadu , Shri S.P.Velumani, Hon’ble Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, said it was another milestone for Shanti Ashram. It carries forward the 30 year legacy of serving vulnerable children and ensuring integrated development along Gandhian lines. He assured the ICPH team that the Government of Tamil Nadu will create bridges of cooperation with the International Centre for Child and Public Health.
